Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor

Your responsibilities
As Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial ownership of the mechanical scope on a major Data Centre project—from early commercial planning through to final account.
Your responsibilities will include:

preparing BOQs, budgets, profit plans and commercial forecasts;

monitoring project costs and reporting commercial performance;
-
managing subcontractor accounts, valuations and final accounts;
-
preparing monthly applications, including remeasurements, variations, dayworks and contractual claims;
-
pricing and agreeing project changes with clients and subcontractors;
-
managing payment certificates, retentions and contractual obligations;
-
identifying commercial risks and supporting appropriate mitigation measures;
-
working with project and planning teams to align cost, progress and programme;
-
maintaining accurate commercial records and supporting documentation;
-
leading commercial meetings and negotiations;
-
supporting the controlled agreement of the final account.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who have:
-
a qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline;
-
proven experience as a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor;
-
experience delivering large-scale construction, engineering or MEP projects;
-
Data Centre, mission-critical, pharmaceutical or life sciences experience—highly advantageous;
-
strong knowledge of contract administration, cost control and commercial reporting;
-
experience managing subcontractors, variations, claims and project change;
-
confidence working directly with clients and senior project stakeholders;
-
strong negotiation, communication and record-keeping skills;
-
excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities independently;
-
a proactive and commercially focused approach.
