For our Client, a leading international engineering contractor, we are recruiting for the position of:
Commercial Manager – Data Centre Project
Location: Gävle, Sweden
Work model: On-site
Your responsibilities
As Commercial Manager, you will take ownership of the commercial performance of a major hyperscale Data Centre project—from pre-construction and contract review through to completion and final account.
Your responsibilities will include:
- leading all commercial activities throughout the project lifecycle;
- managing project revenue, profitability, cash flow and financial forecasts;
- preparing accurate monthly commercial and financial reports;
- reviewing, negotiating and administering client contracts;
- identifying and mitigating commercial, contractual and financial risks;
- leading negotiations with clients, subcontractors and other project stakeholders;
- managing profit plans, project budgets and commercial forecasts;
- protecting the company’s contractual position and ensuring commercial compliance;
- supporting project teams with contractual interpretation and commercial guidance;
- overseeing subcontract agreements, purchase orders, letters of intent and related documentation;
- managing claims, variations and final account negotiations;
- monitoring and auditing project commercial processes;
- working with engineering, planning, finance and operational teams;
- leading and developing Quantity Surveyors and other commercial team members;
- maintaining strong client relationships and identifying future business opportunities;
- supporting lessons learned, continuous improvement and commercial best practice.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who have:
- a degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or a related discipline;
- extensive experience as a Commercial Manager or in a senior commercial position;
- experience within construction, engineering, MEP or Data Centre projects;
- proven ability to manage large-scale projects from pre-construction through to final account;
- strong knowledge of construction contracts, commercial governance and risk management;
- experience managing project profitability, budgets, forecasts and cash flow;
- practical knowledge of claims, variations and subcontractor account management;
- excellent negotiation and stakeholder-management skills;
- experience leading and developing commercial teams;
- strong financial, analytical and decision-making abilities;
- confidence working directly with clients and senior project leadership;
- excellent communication and reporting skills;
- good command of English;
- legal eligibility to work in Sweden;
- willingness to work on-site in Gävle.
Previous experience as Commercial Manager on a hyperscale Data Centre or mission-critical construction project will be a significant advantage.
